NEARLY 6000 people passed through the doors of the stunning building by Gaudi “Casa Batlló” in Barcelona, Spain last weekend to visit the BCN ART 2014 by Global Art Agency – one of the fastest growing platforms for contemporary art.
Valeria Carbó Guëll, Manager of Sotheby’s Barcelona was impressed by the quality of the artworks on show and was happy to judge in the Global Art Awards 2014 at the BCN Art Fair. Together with Francesc de Haro i Uribe (Artist Lawyer and Fine Art Collector) who agreed with Valeria saying it’s been an amazing event!
“Modern art in the architectural jewel designed by Gaudi, a very exciting combination, even more than we expected. Said Global Art Agency Directors Joelle Dinnage and Natal Vallve. “We were very proud to have 150 exhibitors from over 30 countries exhibiting at the BCN Art Fair 2014. We had no doubt it would yet again be another success and that it would attract a large audience.”
Exhibitor Pedro Demetriou said “I had an incredible time exhibiting at the Barcelona International Art Fair at Casa Batlló’. I was impressed by the organisation of the event, as well as the promotion. It provided me with the opportunity to not only exhibit in an incredible place, but to meet wonderful artists as well as the public. I did not anticipate how busy it would be, and ended up running out of over 200 business cards and selling many prints. It was an amazing experience I will never forget, and thoroughly recommend it to any fellow artists.”
Exhibitor Maxwell Rushton commented: “I had a great time exhibiting at BCN Art Fair and have been very impressed with the organisation of this fair. Outstanding! I am happy to say that the piece ‘Share A Coke With Maxwell’ has been traded for (as I don’t exchange my work for money), I have also been offered a sponsor from company that wishes to fund a residency in which I will create 3 more versions of the drawing that was on display. Thank so much to the fine organisation.”
Exhibitor Oscar Lett said he had the best last 5 min of any show he has ever done, when he sold originals and prints right before it all ended!
Kenneth Laugen was the only Norwegian exhibitor at the BCN Art Fair and said his jaw dropped when he discovered the art fair venue Casa Batllò. He said: “Wow, one of Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces, just amazing, definitely connecting art with art.” Kenneth was greatly complimented on his work by the thousands of visitors, shifting hundreds of business cards and flyers, and he will be coming back soon to Barcelona too after receiving an interesting proposal by a local Gallery.
A first for the BCN Art Fair was to introduce bespoke high quality handcrafted fine art jewellery. And the organisers were glad to see the Luz Minerva Jewels doing so well. Marilyn the owner said “We were glad to see how our jewellery items were so well accepted by the general public with great interest and also sold a few pieces, which contributed to the wellbeing of the experience.”
The Global Art Awards ceremony was another highlight of the Art Fair. The four Best Artist Award winners were announced.
The Jury Valeria Carbó Guëll, Manager of Sotheby’s Barcelona and Francesc de Haro i Uribe, Artist Lawyer and Fine Art Collector, were pleased to present the Awards together with the GAA Team on Saturday 12th December surrounded by a large audience and press from the Catalunya Radio and TV. Whilst Sponsor Juve y Camps poured the tasting wines people gathered to witness the Awards Ceremony.
The first place for Best Global Artist 2014 at the BCN Art Fair went to Jordi Soler. His artwork stood out using a very fine technique with different concepts, from realism with somewhat of a subtle comical touch yet enhancing and interesting.
The second prize of Best BCN Art Fair Artist Award was won by: Joan Peris. And the third prize Award went to Roger de Tanios. The online Facebook competition voted by the public with 226 votes was won artist Glenn Bracke.
