Eva Meenhorst (Dutch, living in UK) “My art is colourful, happy and big. My paintings fall into three distinct styles. The first are the colourful abstracts. The second style consists mainly of black dancing female silhouettes. Most of my commissions I get for the third -‘Connected Forever’-style; I recreate a family story through the painting which start with symplistic, personalised drawings with the connection of brothers and sisters symbolised by a ball of wool which unravels through the family but is always in the background. I have shipped pieces both nationally and internationally to countries including Spain, Turkey, Holland, Switzerland, Hong Kong and New Zealand.”
“Only in 2013, when all of my (4) children were in fulltime school, I started experimenting with oils and brushes on oversized canvasses. Within a year I had my first exhibitions in the UK and the Netherlands.”
What drives you..
I love making something beautiful by combining colours.
What is your definition of art…?
Art is something which makes you stop and think about what you see.
Can you tell us what you have going on right now…?
Besides painting on canvas, I recently started painting on dresses, which I have especially made for the task. Now women and girls can bring their favourite artwork wherever they go, by wearing it!
I know my artwork is finished when…?
When I would like to have it on my own wall.
Which are your favorite artists…?
Klimmt, Picasso, Corneille and Liesbeth Rahder.
Greatest achievements so far…?
Both my artwork and dresses are being sold in a high end interior design and fashion store in Zurich.
What makes your art different than others…?
You can wear my artwork too!
What is your favourite pastime apart from painting or creating art…?
Travelling with my family.
