The 2013 edition of the Barcelona Showcase took place on Saturday 27th April, and was visited by 3600 people, a record-breaking amount of visitors for the unique art exhibition held at the beautiful Gaudi Casa Batllo in the heart of the city.
After a fun and relaxed meet & greet pre-party the evening before, we started the day early on Saturday morning. Opening the doors of the Casa Batlló – a key feature in the architecture of modernist Barcelona – at 10am for day visitors.
Despite a little rain, the one-day exhibition was well visited by the art-loving Spanish crowd, and soon the first sale was made followed by Exhibitor Hami Onur from Turkey who sold out his complete range of artworks he had for sale within a couple of hours. The day continued with much pleasure from visitors and exhibitors congratulating the organisers on the great success of the event.
At 18pm the expected VIP Guests arrived for the Champagne Reception and Private View. Barcelona TV and Catalunya Radio also made an entrance who interviewed the visitors and exhibitors. More sales followed, new contacts were made, and a lot of networking took place. Galleries looking for new talent, scouts who came to discuss collaboration opportunities with the exhibitors, and Art collectors flying over from UK and further afield to view all the amazing artworks of the selected exhibitors. The Champagne was popped, the wine was flowing by sponsors Juve y Camps and shortly afterwards, the Showcase and GAA Award Winners were announced!
